Information

The orchid walk is on the northern slopes of the Kyrenia Mountains. As we walk through the Mediterranean pine forest we can see up to 8 different species of orchids among the undergrowth of the forest. During the right season, naked-man orchid (Orchis italica) grows in very pretty groups. The walk also has extensive views of the Mediterranean Sea. There are several connecting trails in the Alevkayası region and the walk can easily be modified to be a quarter day, half day to a full day trek. There are several points of interest on the trails as well such as the ruins of Sourp Magar Armenian Monastery, an old chapel and a herbarium. At the end of the trail, there is a cafeteria waiting to serve the hikers a refreshing warm tea or a cold beer.
